You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. some may be significant only to you. some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experience. - President Hinckley

The Big 4!

Gwendalin turned four on the 24th. Yippee! We had a party scheduled for Saturday the 25th, but we have been battling the flu with the three older kids and she ended up getting it on Saturday morning so we had to cancel the party. It was so sad, we had told the girls to dress like princesses or fairies or ballerinas and we didn't have the phone number of one from preschool and she came all dressed up. We felt horrid, but we did give her a party bag before she left. I think Gwennie ended up having a good weekend in spite of it... we started celebrating on Thursday with opening one present and then another Friday and the rest on Saturday. We had cake today. She helped me make the frosting for her princess castle cake and it turned out cute. Here are a few pictures...

Blowing out the candles...(dad always helps.)

The "Swim to Me Puppy" was a huge it with all three kids - as was the Dora Backpack...I debated taking the puppy back, but then she was sick and we canceled her party so I took it out and wrapped it.

She loves to snap her fingers- she just figured it out and she is snapping in this picture in her new birthday outfit before the presents are opened.

Here's the final cake....it's nothing fancy (2 squares of cake stacked with plastic turrets and princesses on the corners.)

The powedered sugar didn't go in the bowl so well... but she had fun trying.

So, to sum it up, here are a few tidbits about Gwendalin and the 4th year of her life:
*She loves to dress up
*She loves make up and calls it magic (because it sparkles)- thanks to her Aunt Lynn
*She hates doing her hair - acutally I think despise is a better word
*She loves to help with Dallin
*She will do her chores sometimes with no questions and other times with lots of encouragement
*She won't go to bed or sleep without her blanket
*She still sucks her thumb
*Her favorite food is hot dogs
*She has discovered the fun of playing at girlfriend's houses and wants to all the time
*She loves to look at herself in the mirror and see how pretty she is
*She shares everything she has
*She loves to sing songs with her dad that they make up together
*She loves to be outside and see flowers
*Her favorite princess is Ariel
We are so glad we got a Gwennie girl at our house! We love you Gwendalin!

Happy Birthday Gwennie! What a beautiful sweet girl! I hope she is feeling better and that you're all over the flu. That is sad you had to cancel the party. The cake looks amazing! It totally looks like those over priced ones at the grocery store. I'm very impressed you made it!
