You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. some may be significant only to you. some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experience. - President Hinckley

Girl's Weekend 2009!

This year my mom turned 60! We decided to suprise her with a girl's weekend to celebrate. We (Tricia, Lynn, and I) started planning a few months prior. Lynn came up with the idea. We let dad in on it and he was so excited to be part of this great plan! He told her he was going to take her to Orem to see Grandma and Grandpa Carson (mom's parents) for her birthday since they hadn't been there in a while. Tricia and Lynn and I came up and went to Grandma and Grandpa's before she got back from running errands with dad. She was shocked! All three of us were sitting on the couch and she was thrilled. We were afraid we would be caught before we got in the house so we had backup plans to hide behind bushes or blend in with cars and patio furniture....we are hilarious! Dad went to Red Mesa and we played from Friday until Sunday morning. We stayed at Lynn's in-laws cabin in Sundance. Unfortunately, none of us took a camera so I have no pictures...but it was a blast. We shopped most of Friday afternoon, got dinner and went to the wierdest play we've ever seen "Little Shop of Horrors" - no seriously, we all were dumbfounded when we left the theater...it was hilarious (not really - but we laughed our heads off at how stupid it was.) We stayed up late talking. Saturday morning we went to the Provo temple and did a session all together and then went shopping some more. We chilled that night and watched a movie - and stayed up late talking. It was so nice to just hang out with no kids for a few days! Mom loved it, even though I think we wore her out. Here sisters came up on Sunday and played with her after we left until Tuesday. They spend every minute just sitting around the fire talking. It was super great! Glad we did it!

The Big 5!

Gwendalin's birthday was on October 24 - she turned 5 this year....we made it a huge deal! We had her birthday party a week early on the 17th because I was out of town on the actual day. We had a big party doing make-up for the girls, playing games, decorating cupcakes, playing outside, presents, etc. It was a blast and I only had it last for an hour and a half so I am still sane. She invited 8 little friends. Here are few photos documenting the event! At the bottom is a list of things Gwendalin likes right now.

Gwendalin: October 2009
  • Loves to help around the house
  • Loves to "mother" her younger brothers
  • Could eat candy all day long
  • Loves her pink blanket
  • Can write her whole name by herself
  • Can ride a 2 wheeler
  • Loves to put on make-up
  • Her favorite color is pink
  • She sings on cue - any song you want (she makes it up as she goes)
  • She is always inventing a new game to play with Tyler (they are good friends)
  • She hates cleaning her room - but loves it when it is clean.
  • Loves to help me bake while wearing an apron
  • Loves to help clean as long as it's not her room and there is some type of cleaning spray involved.
  • Always smiling
  • Cutest giggle ever!

So Gwennie! In spite of a rough start at your birth - I am so glad you are in our family. What a blessing you are.

these 2....

Tyler and Gwendalin are good friends most of the time. They play pretty well together and the other day came in the kitchen with hair bows on their ears as earrings. And then they wanted to pose for the camera.

Oh the dishwaser -the Doodle's favorite place!

any chance he gets, Dallin is in the dishwasher (literally) or on it. I have to keep everything sharp out until it's locked and running or he will play with it. Seriously, if I need some time to make dinner - I just opened the door and he's enteretained....I love it!

Last warm day...

On one of the last warm days to play outside the kids had no school (or maybe it was a Saturday- I don't remember). Anyway, Hunter found a package of balloons and decided to have a car wash and a water balloon fight. I had them wash my car and they they had their fun with the balloons. The original idea was to throw the balloons at the car to wash it, but I nixed that. I got a good laugh at Tyler's washing strategy (see picture below). It was a fun day for them.

It's been a while...

It's 11:25 on Tuesday night. I should be in bed, but I'm not. I just finished getting stuff ready for tomorrow so that I don't have to do it and I can make phone calls instead of stupid office work. I have caught up on lots of blogs, smiled at new posts, reflected on words of wisdom that have been shared, and now I'm writing my own little bit.

There's not a lot going on right now - my kids are healthy, we have a roof overhead, and there is heat in our house. However, near the dog kennel it stinks so bad - 2 big dogs will do that if you didn't know.

I am looking forward to Friday and it's only Tuesday. I look forward to Fridays because that's our date night. After working and running and the craze of the day to day - I find that I always look for Fridays just to have some quiet time with Travis.

Why is it I can't keep my house clean? I mean my standard of clean - yes people might come and say it looks clean- but it's not. After having baby #4 I thought I lost control, then you add working more than I was on top of that and I have no control at all...lucky for the family I do get laundry done consistently, but that's about it.

Do you ever think about your parents and how they managed to raise you? I do...tonight Gwendalin and Tyler came into the kitchen and told me that something in the bathroom broke, I asked what. Gwennie replied with "the towel holder, it got old and fell down." uh-huh....I responded with the fact that towel holders don't get old and fall down and so who was hanging on it and broke it? It turned into a "he said/ she said" - Tyler blamed Gwendalin and Gwendalin blamed Tyler.... I'm sure she thought she was pretty creative in her reasoning that the rod fell out of the wall...I know I thought the same thing when I was a kid - my excuses for things were so good - my parents had NO CLUE....yeah right! who was I kidding? They likely got some good laughs out of me. I know I get them out of my kids.

Now my head is starting to spin - it must be time for bed...morning comes way too soon....and I never feel quite as rested as I want to.

As for my ramblings....I'm done. Hope all people are well!
