You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. some may be significant only to you. some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experience. - President Hinckley

The Day of Labor

My mom was wonderful in booking a few spots in McCall, ID for Labor Day weekend about 6/7 months ago. The campsite was wonderful, it had hookups and showers....Here are a few highlights from the trip and lots of pictures to document it as well.

  • Tyler got sick on the first day (puking) and threw up for 12 hours
  • I didn't sleep the first night (Tyler puked a lot - at least every hour, and if he wasn't puking Dallin was crying.)
  • Mom and dad didn't sleep the first night, they were up helping me a lot of the night.
  • Dallin fell out of the trailer right after we arrived- he's got a nice goose egg to prove it.
  • Travis and Matthew got in late the second night from a quick Elk Hunting excursion.
  • During the second night-Hunter was asleep in Tricia's trailer, at midnight she brought him to mine and let me know he was now puking.
  • I didn't sleep the second night.
  • The kids played at the beach by the lake, mixing dirt and water to make "Organic Matter" as they called it.
  • We threw lots of rocks in the lake.
  • We built campfires - Hunter became a pro at lighting the start of the fire.
  • McKenna loved to gather dried moss for the fire.
  • Hammocks were loads of fun.
  • Kevin (from our ward) camped next to us and went on lots of bike rides with the kids, and loved to hold Maesyn.
  • After the second night of no sleep - we decided we were going to bail early - good thing too...Gwennie then got the pukes and puked the whole way home (Gross....there's still puke on the side of my car).

Hi, Marie...

Hey did you guys go to Ponderosa? I love that place and can't wait to get back there. We had a family reunion there and had a blast!!! I am so sorry for all the "puking" I hope everyone is feeling better now. Don't you just love vacations that turn out like that. At least you will never forget it. Heehee.

Can't wait to come back and see you and your cute family. We will be back in December.

Love ya,
Katie

It was a fun time, in spite of all the "extra" "fun" we (well, mostly you and your sweet kids) had. I agree with mom, we should go again, just not on a holiday weekend... It's always good to just get away for a minute- I'm really glad that you came.

We had the stomach bug this past week too. But at least we were at home. That's no fun to be sick on the "vacation".
I love that Dallin had his shoes over his footed jammies. Glad I'm not the only one who does that. It's too cold to change their clothes in the morning!
Also, did you see Dana & Russ? They were camping 5 miles from their house. That would have been funny!

Oh my! The lack of sleep sounds NO FUN! But the rest of the pics looks relaxing. Hope you have caught up on your sleep. Tell Travis to watch the kids and let you take a nap :)

I'm so sorry they were all sick. That's no fun- at least you weren't in a tent!

Gotta love camping! Sorry to hear about all the puke. So not fun! I just did a camping post too-it was not as bad as yours though. I realized at the end of our camp out that we really just do it for the kids don't we. Its no wonder my parents gave it up by the time I was old enough to go.

Loved the pictures they said it all.
