You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. some may be significant only to you. some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experience. - President Hinckley

Salt Lake Slam

Travis had been looking up different tournaments for the boys (especially Hunter) so that they could get some mat time and some more experience and more wins (Hunter) to build confidence.  There were 2 parts to that tournament a regular tournament with all kids and then one that was “True Beginners” (wrestlers that have only been wrestling 2 years or less).  Both Dallin and Hunter took 1st place in the true beginner tournament.  In the regular tournament Dallin wrestled 4-5 times all very hard matches (against 2nd graders) , he rivaled all 3 rounds each time but ended up only winning 3 matches and losing 2.  He was not happy, but it was good experience for him.  Hunter lost both of his matches in the regular tournament, but not because he got pinned….he held his own all the way to the end.  He has made such amazing progress.  They are both really fun to watch wrestle.

Trish and Matthew came and brought their girls. Matthew helped coach Dallin and Hunter.  The kids swam at the hotel, we ate at golden corral and we went to the Salt Lake Temple on the last night of their “Christmas Lights” display…they loved it.  Saturday after the tournament, we took them to the aquarium and spent some time looking at the sharks and the other aquatic life.  They seemed to enjoy that as well.
