You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. some may be significant only to you. some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experience. - President Hinckley

Winter Festival!

So, we decided to do a "mini-vacation" with the kids. We drove about 90 miles north and stayed overnight in a hotel. The point was the see the beautiful snow sculptures that the locals do every year....very talented. As you can see below, we did see some, but the kids didn't want to keep coats on , their hands were cold from slipping in the snow and they finally zonked. The highlight of the trip for them was staying in a hotel and swimming. And yes, I was there....I just took all the pictures. Every phone (2 total) in the room had to be unplugged....Tyler loved them.

Tyler just didn't want to get back in the car, plus he had just fallen in the snow.

Gwennie was trying to warm her hands after she had just fallen...she couldn't reach the heater very well.

We couldn't get Hunter to "swim" away from the steps for a long time...but he finally did and I didn't get a picture of him doing it. Gwennie had no issues and neither did Tye. But Tye loved to run and bit it a few times on the wet floor.

Oh this one is a contribution from our neighborhood to the snow sculptures...my dad took the pictures...leaning tower of snowman...we're not sure how in the world it's still standing - sort of.

All in all, our 17-18 hour trip being away from home, was fun. Hotel, swim, dinner, play in room, sleep, breakfast, swim, snow sculptures, drive home. Lots of good memories.

Very cool! I liked the train best. I was showing my kids the pictures you posted, and all Will kept saying was, "Octagon!!!" because he saw a stop sign in one of them. What a fun little getaway for you's guys.

Great pics! A gal at work went over the weekend, but you got better pictures.... and you're kids are in them which makes them even more fun! There's just something about staying in a hotel that lets you know you've had a "break"... even if it was brief. Glad you had fun-
