You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and keep record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh your memory of those meaningful and significant things. Some may be funny. some may be significant only to you. some of them may be sacred and quietly beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of special experience. - President Hinckley

This year's hunt!

Travis killed a nice bull elk this year. Hunter was so thrilled when he brought it home, he got a picture with it. Unfortunately, during the "pack out" Travis did something that really screwed up his back/neck and has had a permanent migraine since the 17th of September. He has seen a chiropractor (which made it worse - I told him that was a good sign and he should go back), he's seen a doctor and gotten 2 shots (cortisone and something for nausea), and today he had a CT scan - which came back normal. So, we are hoping we can get him out of pain and back to a functional lifestyle. In the meantime, he killed a year's worth of meat for us!

So.... how does that work? Are you the one that skins it, cuts it up into nice little pieces and packages it? Does it save money if you hunt your own meat, or does it offset the cost when you have to hire a butcher to do all the... butchering? Enlighten me in the world of hunting, as I am not married to a hunter, and I have no idea what would go into all of that. P.S. Hope Travis's neck/back gets better soon!!!

I'm glad that the CT didn't show anything really bad... I'm sorry he's hurting, happy for the meat it brings you, and happy that Hunter looks so stinkin' cute (tell him i said tough, not cute) standing, holding the rack!!! Sure hope Travis gets to feeling better soon... I keep thinking of the pain i had with a slipped disc, it eventually disipated w/ time... hopefully whatever is messed up just needs a minute to get back to normal...
